Trixiewiz e.V invites you to join our two week program “Weissensee MACHT Vielfalt” [Weissensee DOES Diversity] taking place in Weissensee and Pankow Heinersdorf from November 19th till December 3rd 2014.

By taking a critical approach to subjects like migration, refugees, diversity and (everyday) racism, we want to raise awareness and achieve a debate and more engagement in human rights and migration issues. There will be workshops, film screenings, discussions, exhibitions and art events.
The project takes place in cooperation with OASE Berlin e.V. and close collaboration with local networks, initiatives, engaging protagonists and is funded by the federal programme „TOLERANZ FÖRDERN, KOMPETENZ STÄRKEN“.

November 19th 2014 marks the start of the program in Kino Toni for a matinee screening of the film documentaries ID-WITHOUTCOLORS and Wo kommst du wirklich her [Where are you REALLY from?]. Invited are particularly youngsters and school classes to reflect about every day racism, identity and stigmata. After the screening there will be a discussion with Olga Gerstenberger of the educational team With WINGS and ROOTS and Biplab Basu from the campaign for the victims of police violence (KOP) and the NGO ReachOut. The artist Yagi Taffere will open the evening program with her Performance Ahoi Lampedusa, in which she reflects on the global agony and the loss due to forced migration and leaving home.

The premiere screening of the film Nine days on the roof – Widerstand in der von Flüchtlingen besetzten Schule ]Nine days on the roof – Resistance in the refugee squatted school] tells the story of the protests in the former Gerhart-Hauptmann-School in Berlin. The award winning documentary movie The land between by David Fedele shows the consequences of fatal politics concerning african asylum seekers and their life in the Spanish enclave Ceuta, this „Land between“, where you can already see the Rock of Gibraltar, that is in fact almost impossible to reach. After the screenings there will be a discussion with the director of the movie Nine days on the roof, Denise Garcia Bergt, with Harald Glöde of Borderline Europe, the lawyer Berenice Böhlo and the refugee activists Napuli and the political activist Nadiye.

On November 22, 2014 in Frei-Zeit-Haus Weissensee, the Empowerment-Training Stark durch meine Geschichte! [Strong because of my history!] will give space to Women with a migration background, black women, women of color and female migrants for an exchange about discrimination experiences and to find strategies for self-empowerment. November 28th 2014, there is a Skill enhancement for a critical pedagogical approach to racism with Tugba Tanyilmaz and Regina Knoll, designed for educators and people working in the social practice, who want to strengthen their pedagogical skills reflecting racism.

After the inter-religious excursion through Weissensee and Heinersdorf on november 23rd , where we want to discover religious traces, there will be a screening of the documentary film Augen AUF! [Open your Eyes!] that is based on the experiences of seven young women who reflect on personal experiences with discrimination. The film will be shown at the Kinder- und Jugendclub Maxim

Two exhibitions Eine visuelle Sprache der Migration [A visual Language of Migration] by the kollektiv migrantas and Stereotypen [Stereotypes] by the artist Patricia Vester will be shown during the two week programme.

Numerous art actions will be showing different positions of artists, who reflect central issues of the programme: Wie viel kostet ein Leben? [The value of human life] asks the Hassass Training Institute at the farmer’s market Antonplatz on november 25th. Diversiy, asylum seeking and moral courage are issues of the artist Rosaana Velasco in her art-action with youngsters. The performance Jeder* nach seinen Bedürfnissen [Everyone according to his* needs] on November 30th in KuBIZ, the artist Anahita Izadi asks questions about discrimination from the perspective of a high qualified young immigrant in Germany.

November 21st is an open projects day in the Kunsthochschule Weissensee: Kommen und Bleiben [Come and stay], a common cooperation between students and refugees, who live in the refugee dormitories in Pankow.
The program Weissensee MACHT Vielfalt ends with a finissage at Familienzentrum Weissensee. Here, at the workshop by the kollektiv migrantas, the visitors are invited to print pictograms on their bags to show their solidarity with refugees in public.

We want to visualise any kind of group focused enmity and discrimination and fight against these, we want to raise awareness of the host society for a trans-cultural diversity and encourage citizens to get involved for a diverse, fair and a solidly united society and to engage in human rights and refugee protection.
